Island Peak Climbing with EBC

Island Peak Climbing is a favorite choice among novice climbers who wish to start their climbing adventures with technical peaks and progress to challenging climbs of higher altitudes. Island Peak is also popularly called Imja Tse by the locals and mountaineering community around the world. It was named ‘Island Peak’ primarily due to its striking location. It lies in the heart of the Chukhung valley – like an island on a sea of ice. Island Peak has a remarkable, highly glaciated west face that rises from the Lhotse Glacier, which is a bit tough to do, yet the brilliant views from the summit are surely a fitting reward for your efforts. Island peak is a demanding climb to its summit above 20,000 feet and needs to be approached with dedication and respect. Island Peak is an excellent introduction to high altitude mountaineering and can be looked at as a stepping stone to higher peaks. Island Peak is for those who want to explore the Everest Region, and also want more of a challenge and experience real mountaineering. Your Island Peak Climbing adventure begins with a thrilling mountain flight to Lukla, followed by a short trek to Phakding. Island peak expedition pretty much follows the same classic Everest Base Camp trek route via Namche, Tengboche, and Dingboche. You enter the Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and trek through beautiful rhododendron forests & high suspension bridges draped with bright colorful flags. Meet the welcoming, friendly locals en route the trail, explore ancient Buddhist monasteries and learn about the beautiful and unique Sherpa culture. The second phase of your Island Peak journey takes you to Chhukung with an optional trek to Chhukung Ri peak and then to Island Peak Base Camp.
