Himlung Himal Expedition

Himlung Himal Expedition is a beautiful 7,000m peak near Annapurna in Nepal’s Gandaki region. We travel through Mustang to Lo Manthang, the lost city at the head of the Kali Gandaki valley, to get a sense of the region. Easy slopes lead us to Saribung, which is accessed via a high mountain pass. On our way to Himlung, we trek through Phu, an ancient and rarely visited region. We ascend Himlung alpine-style over the next week, now that we’ve acclimatised. The climbing is mostly on low-angle terrain, and it entails passing through four camps and ascending snow slopes before descending a direct ridge to the summit. This expedition’s climbing is not technically difficult, which makes it appealing to climbers who want to see how they perform on a 7,000-meter peak. This expedition provides a compelling reason to travel to Nepal’s wilderness and climb a high peak in the Himalaya. An ascent of these mountains will boost your altitude confidence and is an incredible adventure in and of itself in this amazing part of the Himalayas. Make a highly recommended detour off the beaten path to this rarely visited, Tibetan-influenced region steeped in Buddhism. Himlung Himal (7126m) is located in Nepal’s Manaslu region, wedged between the Annapurna and Manaslu ranges, near the Tibetan border in Nepal’s far western region. This mountain serves as a great warm-up for those who want to climb higher, but it also provides all of the thrills of a true mountain climbing adventure.
